Haddonfield Hackers Set Opening Day Roster

Haddonfield has cut the Spring Training roster down to the 25 man limit. Here's a look at the roster, with career stats highlighted. Opening Day Starters in italics. Career Stats: SP- W/L ERA, RP- K/9 ERA, Batters- OBP/SLG

Starting Rotation
LHP Rafael Hinojosa (47-37 4.56)
RHP Jose Robles (44-47 4.58)
LHP John Young (34-38 5.27)
RHP Guillermo Mendoza (2-1 9.47)
LHP Nick Emery (36-30 4.50)

If Haddonfield wants to make a run at the division, they're going to need to score some runs. Only 3 of the starters are near the league average ERA. Hackers fans are anticipating Guillermo Mendoza's first full major league season. Strong seasons will be needed from lefties Hinojosa and Emery.

Bullpen
RHP Paul Hill (6.4, 4.57)
RHP Raymond Jones (6.9, 4.14)
LHP Corey Ogle (10.2, 4.45)
RHP David Nash (rookie)
RHP Mike Cunningham (6.8, 3.99)
RHP Jose Corona (8.7, 3.46)
RHP Dylan Cooling (8.4, 2.95)

If the Hackers get early leads, they are comfortable with their ability to hold. Cunningham and Corona will setup for Dylan Cooling to close games out.

Catchers
C Hyung-jin Park (.337/.419)
C Brant Garrison (.389/.423)

Haddonfield's going with Park over the aging veteran Garrison for the starting job.

Infielders
1B Ye-qing Chen (.344/.469)
2B Luis Gonzalez (.334/.406)
SS Jason Jackson (.352/.438)
2B Ken Adams (.349/.363)
3B Louis May (.394/.442)
SS Manuel Mendoza (.390/.405)

The season depends on third baseman Louis May to carry the team offensively. The deepest part of the roster, the Hackers are comfortable starting any of their infielders.

Outfielders
LF Alberto Perez (.329/.525)
LF Ray Tremblett (.295/.358)
CF Cory Daniel (.363/.444)
RF Chad Bass (.337/.438)
RF Sterling LaBrie

Cory Daniel will leadoff for the Hackers and start in the outfield or as the DH. Rookie Sterling LaBrie and Alberto Perez will fill in while Ray Tremblett misses the first week of the season with injury.

The Hackers open their season with a three game set at division rival Kansas City Cougars. The Cougars finished 2010 with 85 wins and a 2nd place finish in a very difficult Prefect Division.

Hackers Fill Staff Openings

The new Haddonfield GM put the rest of his staff together in February. The team added Alberto Franco as the new bench coach and Richard King as the director of scouting.

Coach Franco has 4 years of coaching experience, none in the VBL. He will aid returning manager Mike Thomas with handling the players and making on field decisions.

Richard King brings 10 years of scouting experience to the Hackers. He will get started right away putting together scouting reports for the upcoming season.

Hackers Sign GM

From the OOTP News Network:

Life in Haddonfield has been eventful of late. On the heels of a front office shakeup, the club has been pondering its future. Today, a local radio station reported that a deal had been reached with Michael West to become the new Haddonfield general manager.

“We’ve been leaning in this direction for a while now,” admitted a confidential source with the club, “But we had to evaluate all our options before going ahead. West brings a fresh outlook to the Hackers organization.”

Spring Training is about to begin in the VBL6. The Haddonfield Hackers Blog will post a season preview soon.
